Dr. Joel N. Orr

Joel OrrDr. Orr brings more than three decades of deep experience, knowledge and leadership to the industry and is regarded as an expert and visionary in business restructuring, engineering automation, and the future of technology. Orr has been chairman of Orr Associates International, was co-founder and past-president of the NCGA (National Computer Graphics Association) and president of the Virtual Worlds Society. He founded COMPUTER GRAPHICS WORLD magazine and several industry newsletters. Orr is a long-time columnist for CAE Magazine.

Autodesk Corporation named Orr a "Distinguished Fellow," a position he held from 1990 to 1993. In 1997, Bentley Systems made him the "Bentley Engineering Laureate," from 1997 to 2001.

Many Fortune 500 manufacturers see Dr. Orr as a major resource in the areas of business restructuring, engineering automation, and the future of technology. He counts among his clients Ford, IBM, Chrysler, Lockheed, Xerox, Apple, General Foods, Dow Corning; Becton-Dickinson, US Surgical, the US Navy, Coast Guard, Air Force, and Army; NASA; government agencies in several countries; and many other organizations. Orr serves on boards of directors and technical advisory boards for several firms, including Agorics, Inc., Virtus Corporation, and others. He is the recipient of numerous industry awards, including North Carolina State University's "Orthogonal Medal," for excellence in computer graphics, and The Ed Forrest Award.

An internationally-known speaker, Dr. Orr is listed in "Who's Who." He holds a Ph.D. in mathematics from the State University of New York.
