Cyon Research Study Takes a Fresh Look at the Value-Proposition of High-End Mechanical CAD

Bethesda, MD August 16, 2007 – Cyon Research Corporation, a leading provider of analysis and consulting for engineering technology markets, announced the release of a new white paper that re-examines the conclusions of the company’s 2003 white paper, The Value-Proposition of High-End Mechanical CAD, in order to determine if they are still relevant.

MCAD has advanced since the white paper four years ago and the labels “high-end” and “mid-range” no longer accurately describe the classes of software available. “Our white paper, A Fresh Look at the Value Proposition of High-End Mechanical CAD, explores the massive changes in the capabilities of MCAD systems that have taken place over the past four years and attempts to clarify the boundaries of the two market classes,” says Brad Holtz, CEO, Cyon Research Corporation. “Many of the areas that were once the sole domain of what was called ‘high-end MCAD’ are now also addressed by what was called mid-range MCAD.”

In the white paper, Cyon Research has put forward the terms, “specialized” and “mainstream,” as replacements for “high-end” and “mid-range.”
